Elden Ring DLC New Best Weapons, Talismans, Armor for Early Game (1.12 Patch) (2024)

Let's get you some quality new stuff in Elden Ring towards the very start of theShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion. You can find a few useful talismans, a meteoric greatsword, a long-range throwing spear, a hand-to-hand fighting stance, a caster sword that can also cast spells, a high-defense armor set, infinite throwing blades, and some lethal perfume. Let's get into it!

Best Weapons for Elden Ring DLC Early Game

1. Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

This massively strong greatsword might have you reconsidering your entire build. It comes with one of my favorite weapon skills, theWhite Light Charge, which is a great distance closer with a fancy AoE at the end of it. In its final form, it has a B scaling in Strength, an E in Dexterity, and a B in Arcane. It's pretty chunky, though, weighing in at 22.

Location:

  1. Head north from the starting point across the big bridge.

  2. Turn right at the enemy encampment and go up to the cliff edge.

  3. Travel down the sequence of rocks to the lower level.

  4. At point one on the map, break the spooky ghost rocks to activate the nearby Spirit Spring.

  5. Take the Spirit Spring up, then another one to land directly in the castle.

  6. Exit the front of the castle, pass through the mountain opening, and head to point two on the map.

Inside the Ruined Forge of Starfall, use a lever to open the first gate, progress normally, drop down, and open another gate. Reactivate the gate, jump on top, and ride it up to the next level to find the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword.

2. Smithscript Spear

Also at the Ruined Forge of Starfall, you'll find theSmith Script Spear. This weapon excels in ranged attacks, thanks to its heavy attack which performs a long-range throw. It scales with D in Strength, C in Dexterity, and E in Intelligence and Faith. Perfect for those who prefer a touch of range in their melee setup.

Location:

Same as the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, inside the Ruined Forge of Starfall.

3. Dryleaf Arts

This hand-to-hand weapon type is a personal favorite. When maxed out, its default affinity has a C scaling in Strength and Dexterity. Pair it with theDryleaf WhirlwindAsh of War for a strong multi-hit spin kick. On a Dex and Intelligence build, applying the cold affinity gives it a C scaling in Strength and Dexterity and a B in Intelligence.

Location:

  1. From the Ruined Forge, head up and around to spot one on the map to find the emoteMay the Best Win.

  2. At spot two on the map, findDryleaf Danne. Use the emote in front of him to initiate a duel.

  3. Defeat him to get his fighting style and hat.

4. Carrion Sorcery Sword

This sword functions as both a melee weapon and a catalyst to cast spells. When maxed out, it has an E scaling in Strength, a D in Dexterity, and a D in Intelligence.

Location:

  1. Head north from the starting location to a castle with decorations.

  2. Make your way through the castle until you reach the top of its walls.

  3. Find the Carrion Sorcery Sword in a chest.

5. Smithscript Daggers

These throwing blades are great for ranged combat. When maxed out, they have a D scaling in Strength, a B in Dexterity, an E in Intelligence, and an E in Faith.

Location:

  1. Head north across the big bridge.

  2. Turn right at the enemy encampment until you find an illuminated stone structure.

  3. Inside the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, find the Smithscript Daggers on a corpse.

Best Talismans for Elden Ring DLC Early Game

1. Blessed Blue Dew Talisman

This talisman automatically regenerates FP, making it easier to keep your FP topped off as you explore.

Location:

  1. Head north from the Gravite Plane starting point.

  2. Go left through a giant archway to some stairs, then take a left before the stairs.

  3. Follow the cliffside path to the Church of Benediction to find the Blessed Blue Dew Talisman.

2. Smithing Talisman

This talisman increases the power of thrown weapons, perfect for use with the Smithscript Spear.

Location:

Inside the Ruined Forge of Starfall, same as the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword.

Best Armor for Elden Ring DLC Early Game

1. Solitude Armor Set

This is one of the highest defense armor sets, letting you take a pummeling. It's heavy but manageable with around 30 endurance.

Location:

  1. Near the starting point in the Western Nameless Mausoleum.

  2. Defeat the boss with a repeater crossbow and a big sword to acquire the Solitude Armor Set.

2. Fire Spark Perfume Bottle

This item is great for ranged combat, providing a B scaling in Dexterity when maxed out.

Location:

  1. Head north to the bridge from the starting point.

  2. Go into the enemy encampment to the right to find a chest with the Fire Spark Perfume Bottle.

For a good weapon skill, head north from the first Ruined Forge to find a Crystal Beetle that dropsRolling Sparks, which does a multi-wave blast of whichever element your perfume bottle is.

Whether you're swinging a greatsword, casting spells with a dual-purpose sword, or engaging in hand-to-hand combat, these early-game weapons, talismans, and armor sets will give you a significant edge in the "Shadow of the Erdtree" expansion.
